Tunis, July 9 (Petra) -- Arab Interior Ministers Council (AIMC) on Thursday condemned attacks on Saudi and Qatari oil tankers by Iran and attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain, warning that such actions pose a "serious" escalation threatening regional and international peace and security.
In a statement, the AIMC's General Secretariat said it received with "strong condemnation and denunciation" reports of the targeting of the Saudi oil tanker "Wadiyan" and the Qatari tanker "Al Rukayyat" while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, as well as renewed Iranian attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain.
The statement said these actions reflect Iran’s hostile approach and constitute violations of international laws, conventions and principles of good neighborliness, while threatening regional and global economic interests and international security.
Reiterating its "strong" condemnation of the attacks, the General Secretariat expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain, as well as all Arab countries, in measures taken to protect their security, sovereignty, territorial integrity, facilities, citizens and residents.
